Vermont Haiti Garden Book

Allen Brook and Haiti are sister schools. Calliope students are sending a book to Haiti. We worked in pairs of two. Each grope of two made a garden picture. We have made seed pockets in our book and put seeds for the children in Haitia to plant in their gardens.

Multiplication Book

Our math class created story problems on the Paint program. We did this at the end of our multiplication unit, so the problems are all multiplication stories. Anna

Anna is our new student teacher in Mrs. Wilson’s class. Anna has 1 chocolate lab named Chester. She lives with her parents but only when she is not at school, her school is St Michel’s College. Her favorite color is pink. She came to school because she loves kids and she wanted to be a teacher. She is currently taking her first education class called Schools and Society.

Endangered Rainforest Animals

Sophie Bujold and I, Olivia Letourneau, did a presentation in front of the whole Calliope team. We both studied eight endangered rainforest animals. Here are the names of all of the animals. Agouti, Aye – Aye, Fossa, Gray Mouse Lemur, Tarsier, Kinkajou, Flying Squirrel, and Slender Loris. Most of them have longer tails than their bodies. We showed a video and did clay sculptures of the animals. There are about 25 of each animal left in the world. We are now collecting money for the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). The box to raise money will either be in the lobby or in the front office of Allen Brook School.

Snail Research

Doug, Claire and Paige did a snail research with Mrs. Poirot. We went to her office every Tuesday for lunch and recess. We also went at 1:45 on Mondays so we could practice our presentation. Then in a little group we presented once more before the real thing. Finally, we presented our research in front of Calliope kiva!!!

If it’s space its a race!

Located at Allen Brook School, Williston VT. We have kids that will help you with all your space needs. We have a class pet, our space monkey named Ham. We even have a space helmet. We learn about every planet and are interested in all space related things.
The main person in charge of this space agency is Mrs. Wilson, she teaches her students about space. Each student has their own nick name!

Our Space Unit

Our class is doing a space unit. We have a new motto and name. The Astro Team is our name and “If it’s space it’s a race” is our new motto. We are now a space team. We are going to get passports to all of the planets!!! We are also going to decorate our room as a space theme!!! We are going to make comets out of cotton balls and then we are going to attach tinsel at the end to make it look real. We are also going to make planets to make our class room look like the Solar System.

Multi-Voting Process

We generated a list of possible names for our space agency. We multi-voted on the name we liked best.(Astro Team) Then we drew logos and made up mottoes to go with our logo. We multi-voted to get our first choices.

December Auction

A couple of days ago our class had an auction. We had fun bidding against each other. People were saying numbers back and forth and it got exciting and funny. There were so many things to choose from like bouncy balls, pencils, hi-lighters, snowmen, and iron on stickers. At the end things started to slow down and people were learning how to be smart bidders. We are hoping to do this again.

Our Auction

On December 19th 2008 we had an auction. It was really fun! Instead of money we used clear green bingo chips we earned by having good behavior, bringing our homework back to school, and doing good deeds. Each chip was worth a dollar. Some people did not have as many chips as other people because they got a prize with their chips already. Mr. Nardelli was our auctioneer. We had a lot of fun!!! By Tasneem

A.B.D.A

Allan Brook Detective Agency is here to save the day. We can solve your problems, but only if it’s a mystery or a crime. Our motto is “Any Crime, Any Time.” Everyday our class tries to solve a mystery story. We have a detective dog named Clue, who goes home with a student everyday to help solve a mystery.

Donated Trays

Alexander, Kaitlyn, and Jocelyn donated products to the Fletcher Allen Health Center. They donated four trays from Kalax Creations that had decorations on them. They will go to children in the hospital. By Kaitlyn

Four Winds -Weathering & Erosion

In Four Winds we learned about weathering and erosion. It was fun .We did some experiments with rocks. In one of the experiments we stuck a rock in a cup of water to see if it would float. The other experiment was finding the rock that was magnetized. At first we couldn’t find it but at the end we did find it and that’s what we did at Four Winds. By Spencer

Four Winds- Rocks and Minerals

At Four Winds we learned that rocks are made differently. We did some tests that showed rocks can be magnetic and some are not. We put vinegar on some rocks to see if it fuzzed up. We shook rocks in a jar of water to show how rocks break down when they hit each other. It was a fun time and we learned lots of things about rocks.

Encyclopedia Brown

Joe’s mother came in and read us a story out of the book Encyclopedia Brown Series. We read the story "The Case of Sir Biscuit-Shooter". It was about Uncle Barney and people thinking that he went into Princess Marta’s trailer. At the end of the story Uncle Barney was innocent and they found out that it was a person named Kitty. Kitty went into Princess Marta’s trailer. That was the mystery story that we read! Thanks Alice for reading the story to us. By: Olivia Letourneau

My Big Buddy

Champlain Valley Union High School has a Big Buddy program. The CVU students have a buddy in the elementary school. My big buddy is named Kelsey. She comes to visit me twice a week in my classroom.
